HER House is committed to sustainability. We believe that it is our responsibility to protect the environment and to create a more sustainable future for our planet.
We are taking affirmative steps to reduce our environmental impact:

Proud to be Solar Powered
HER House is solar powered which not only mitigates our carbon footprint, but also keeps utility costs low. Our unspent energy expenses can be reallocated to better support the women of HER House.

Efficient Appliances
HER House is newly constructed and stocked with energy and water efficient appliances. We have also invested in energy efficient lighting and a “smart” HVAC system.

Reducing Waste and Shipping
We support the use of reusable, sustainable packaging and products whenever possible at HER House and are always looking for new ways to reduce our environmental impact even further.

Local Sourcing
We work hard to source from local suppliers and tradespeople to promote local economic sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of shipping. We also endeavor to renew and not buy new.
We won’t stop there:
Fredericksburg is a river city with wonderful outdoor spaces, wildlife, and outdoor recreation. We want to preserve that. We are currently identifying how we can do more.
